New Look turns to commercetools to refresh ecommerce offering

Software company commercetools has announced its partnership with UK and Ireland fashion retailer New Look. The clothing and footwear retailer chose commercetools to help it refresh the online shopping experience for customers, part of its strategy to expand its digital footprint, moving from primarily bricks and mortar to ‘bricks and clicks’.

In the first phase, New Look will focus on improving the transactional element of the online shopping experience, updating order capture, the checkout journey and cart functionality and pricing.

Prior to using commercetools, adding new features to New Look’s commerce channels took weeks, if not months. With commercetools microservices, API-first, cloud-native and headless (MACH) architecture and composable approach, New Look now has the flexibility it requires. There will be a phasing out of the existing system over the next 12 months, leading to the commercetools technology providing the eCommerce platform for all transactions.

Ed Alford, Chief Technology Officer at New Look, commented: “I am delighted we have found a technology partner that ticks all the right boxes for us – experience transforming commerce for well-known enterprise brands as well as the flexibility, scalability and modularity of their technology itself. I am pleased to say we have already started working together to progress our vision to transform the way we serve and delight our customers – all 1.1 million of them each week.”

Dirk Hoerig, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at commercetools, said: “New Look is one of the biggest and most well-loved fashion brands in the UK and Ireland, and we are delighted to be supporting it in its commerce transformation. Our partnership is already under way and we look forward to working closely together over the coming months and years to help New Look realise its ambitious goals.”
