The ECA news round-up with DPD UK, eBay UK, Adobe and more

DPD UK has announced the acquisition of CitySprint, the largest same-day delivery company in the United Kingdom. The acquisition takes place for an undisclosed sum and is still subject to regulatory clearance. When the acquisition becomes official, CitySprint will be part of DPDgroup, the parcel delivery network of GeoPost.

eBay UK has announced several upgrades and features to eBay Shops, the branded storefronts to attract more buyers on the online marketplace. eBay gave the edit shop page a new look, redesigned the categories page and introduced the possibility to create newsletters.

Online shoppers in the United Kingdom are four times more likely to order from online marketplaces than direct from retailers. Over half of the 69 percent of shoppers who regularly buy online, do so via online marketplaces according to research from Adobe. Online marketplaces in Europe are getting more and more popular, and that’s also the case for these platforms in the United Kingdom where 57 percent of shoppers buy from marketplaces, compared to 13 percent who order directly from a retailer’s website. According to the researchers, this is because consumers now have more time on their hands and because of the restrictions to shopping in-store.

Forecast, the AI-native platform for project and resource management, has announced the hire of Simone Goodman as Chief Financial Officer. As Chief Financial Officer of Peakon, Goodman led the finance team and supported a 30x valuation growth in under four years, from Series A to its eventual $700M sale to Workday.  Previously a director at King Digital – the creator of Candy Crush – she supported the company to achieve explosive revenue growth, an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, and a subsequent $5.9 billion acquisition by Activision.

A provider of a cloud-native distributed Order Management System (OMS), Fluent Commerce, has announced it has joined the Adobe Exchange Partner Program as a Premier Partner. Designed to enable omnichannel order and inventory management at scale, Fluent Order Management provides the efficiency and flexibility both businesses and customers demand. In addition, Fluent Commerce has developed a connector that enables fast integration between Fluent Order Management and Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source.
