O2 launches sustainable shopping feature

Virgin Media O2 has launched a sustainable shopping service to help O2 customers to save money and support eco projects.

The ‘Feel Good Shopping’ feature is live in the My O2 app, providing customers with discounts and deals at more than 70% of the UK’s top online retailers, which equates to over 20,000 retailers in total. The service also enables shoppers to make donations to reforestation and carbon offsetting every time they shop.

“The Feel Good Shopping feature is a win-win for O2 customers; they can save money at thousands of retailers, whilst also supporting projects that protect the planet, and support communities across the country. It’s all part of our Better Connections Plan which aims to create a better, more connected and greener future for everyone,” said Simon Valcarel, Marketing Director at Virgin Media O2.

Powered by Kindred, O2 customers can view their ‘wallet’ within My O2 to see how much they have donated, how many tree they have planted, and how much carbon they have offset. Furthermore, each participating retailer has been given an ‘Earthmark’ score to highlight how they perform in regards to sustainability.

The feature is currently only available via the My O2 iOS app, with Android scheduled to get the feature later in the summer.
